A straight answer on what a church website actually costs, with real ranges and no hidden fees.

Here's the deal. You typed this question into Google because you already know the answer isn't simple, and you're right, it isn't. But it doesn't have to be a mystery either. Let's break down what churches actually pay for a website, and why.

The DIY route: $0 to $30 a month

Wix, Squarespace, a free WordPress theme. You build it yourself on a Friday night between everything else on your plate. Cheapest option on paper. The real cost shows up later, in the hours you don't get back and the site that still looks like it was built on a Friday night.

          Template designers: $500 to $3,000

A freelancer or small shop takes a pre-built template and customizes it with your logo, colors, and copy. Faster than DIY, still limited. You're working inside someone else's design decisions, and revisions can drag out over weeks of back-and-forth emails.

          Custom agencies: $3,000 to $15,000+

Full custom design, a real discovery process, a project manager, the works. This is where most professional church websites land, and it's also where most churches get stuck. Agencies built for corporate clients apply corporate timelines to a $3,600-a-year missions budget. Three to six months is normal. So is scope creep.

What we charge: $2,000, one time, or it's free

We built the One-Week Build because we got tired of watching churches choose between "cheap and embarrassing" and "professional and glacially slow." One flat price. Seven days. If you're not happy with what we deliver, you don't pay, and you keep the license anyway.

We can do this because we're not reinventing your church's brand from scratch every time. Decades of design experience, condensed into a focused process, applied to organizations that mostly need the same things: clarity, a clean modern look, and a website that actually represents who you are now, not who you were in 2014.

What actually drives the price up

Regardless of who you hire, a few things always add cost and time: custom illustration or animation, e-commerce or giving platforms built from scratch instead of integrated, multi-site or multi-campus structures, and endless rounds of stakeholder revisions. Know which of these your church actually needs before you start pricing anyone.

The real question isn't "how much." It's "how fast can we actually use it."

A $15,000 website that launches in month six costs you five months of first impressions you don't get back. A $2,000 website that launches next week starts working immediately. For most churches, speed and clarity beat scale and complexity.

Church Website Design in One Week: How We Actually Pull It Off

Learn how to build a church website in just one week. Join us for efficient design strategies today!

No smoke and mirrors. Here's exactly how we design and build a full church website in seven days, and why it actually works.

Yes. We call it the 7 Day Build for a reason. Every time we say it, someone asks the same question, so let's answer it properly instead of just repeating the tagline.

Most agencies stretch a website project across months because the process itself is slow, not because the work takes that long. Endless discovery calls, three rounds of concepting, revision cycles that reset the clock every time someone new weighs in. None of that is design work. It's scheduling friction.

Here's what actually happens in our seven days.

Before Build Week: You get prepared. You complete our Style Guide, a structured questionnaire that captures your church's direction, colors, tone, and content, before we ever open a design file. You upload photos, logos, copy, and any inspiration sites you like. This step does the heavy lifting that normally eats months of back-and-forth. The more thorough you are here, the stronger your final site.

Day 1 to 2: We design. Working from your locked style direction, we build the visual identity and homepage layout first, since everything else follows from there.

Day 3 to 5: We build. Full site construction across every page you need, structured for the way people actually navigate a church website: who you are, what you believe, when and where to show up, how to get connected.

Day 6 to 7: Delivery and review. You get the finished site to walk through. Final approval happens within 48 hours so we keep the timeline moving for you and for whoever's build week is next.

Why this actually works, instead of just being fast for the sake of fast

One locked direction, not a moving target. We agree on the design direction before Build Week starts. That single decision removes the single biggest time-killer in web design: stakeholders changing their minds mid-project.

No dummy meetings. We don't schedule check-ins just to have check-ins. If we need something from you, we ask. Otherwise, we build.

Decades of pattern recognition. We've built enough church sites to know what actually matters: clear service times, an obvious next step for visitors, a giving page that doesn't feel like an afterthought, and a design that looks like 2026, not 2016.

What we need from you to hit seven days

Content ready to go. Logo files. Any must-have brand colors or fonts. A rough sense of your page list. If you're missing some of this, our Fast Track option lets us populate your site with placeholder content so we can still hit the timeline, and you fill in the real content on your own schedule after launch.

Nine signs your church website is quietly turning people away, plus what to do about it before your next visitor bounces.

Nobody walks into your church building for the first time without checking your website first. That's not a guess, it's just how people find churches now. Which means your website isn't a nice-to-have brochure. It's your first service, your first handshake, your first impression, before anyone shows up in person.

Here are nine signs it's quietly costing you.

         1. It hasn't changed since your last building project. If your last redesign lined up with a building campaign from five or more years ago, your site is telling first-time visitors about a church that no longer exists.

         2. Service times are hard to find. If someone has to click more than once to find when and where to show up, you've lost them. This is the single most important piece of information on the entire site.

         3. It's not built for phones. Most people find you on a phone, standing in a parking lot or on their couch Saturday night. If your site is hard to read or navigate on mobile, that's most of your traffic having a bad experience.

         4. There's no obvious next step. A visitor lands on your homepage. What do you want them to do? If the answer isn't obvious in five seconds, they'll leave without doing anything.

         5. The design looks like a template from a decade ago. Stock photos of hands raised in worship. A font nobody's used since 2015. It's not that these things are wrong, it's that they signal "we haven't touched this in a long time," and people notice.

         6. Giving feels like an afterthought. A hidden giving link is a missed opportunity and a friction point for people who already want to support your church.

         7. It loads slowly. People wait about three seconds before they bounce. If your church website takes longer than that, you're losing visitors before they see a single word.

         8. Your staff dreads updating it. If changing a sermon series graphic or an event date requires calling a developer, your website has become a liability instead of a tool.

         9. It doesn't sound like you. Generic church copy that could belong to any congregation in America doesn't help anyone decide your church is the one for them.

         What to do about it

You don't need a full rebuild to fix most of these. Sometimes it's a redesign. Sometimes it's better content and clearer navigation on the bones you already have. What you need is an honest look at your site through a first-time visitor's eyes, not a staff member's.

We'll give you that look for free. Start Your Build and see what a focused week of design and honest feedback could do for your church's first impression.
